Job summary

Icon Water is seeking a commercially minded Financial Planning & Analysis, Senior Analyst (FP&A) to drive budgeting, forecasting and financial performance management. You will consolidate planning activities and provide trusted financial partnering to assigned portfolios.

You will deliver consolidated performance reporting and insightful commentary for Executive, Board and external stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable insights to improve organisational performance.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
• Member of CPA or CA ANZ.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in FP&A or management accounting within a commercial environment.
• Sound knowledge of general accounting principles and budgeting/forecasting experience.
• Extensive experience using large Financial Information Management systems and Microsoft applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead forecasting and budgeting system development and maintenance with master data management.
• Prepare budgeting/forecasting calendar and consolidate plans across portfolios.
• Develop financial models to assess long-term Opex, Capex, demand, and funding assumptions.
• Provide modelling, scenario analysis and strategic insights for planning and investments.
• Support continuous improvement of the Plan-to-Perform process and reporting.
• Review and comment on consolidated performance reports for executive and board.
• Translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders.
• Conduct detailed financial and commercial analyses for business cases and strategies.
• Evaluate viability, risks, and value-for-money for proposed projects.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We're looking for a commercially minded Financial Planning & Analysis, Senior Analyst (FP&A) to play a pivotal role in Icon Water's budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management processes. You'll support the development, consolidation, and management of key planning activities while providing trusted financial business partnering to assigned corporate portfolios.

In this role, you'll prepare consolidated business performance reporting and deliver meaningful insights and commentary to support Executive, Board, and external stakeholder decision-making. Partnering closely with operational, commercial, and executive leaders, you'll translate complex financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights that drive organisational performance.

With a strong focus on financial planning, reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement, you'll contribute to the ongoing enhancement of financial planning and performance management frameworks. This includes strengthening benefits realisation practices and improving the Plan-to-Perform process to drive consistency, efficiency, and value across the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the development and maintenance of the forecasting and budgeting system, including master data maintenance, key parameters and ensure accuracy and integration with the Finance system.
• Lead thepreparation,maintenanceandmanagementofthebudgetingandforecastingcalendar.
• SupportthedevelopmentofIconWater’stop-down andbottom-upbudgets, andlong-termplans forecasts across the entire financial portfolio (income statement, balance sheet, cashflowand capital), with internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Develop and maintain integrated financial models to assess the long-term impact of operating expenditure, capital investment, demand forecasts and funding assumptions, supporting sustainable business performance and strategic decision making.
• Provide financial modelling, scenario analysis and strategic insights to support organisational planning, investment prioritisation and long-term financial sustainability.
• Supportdrivingcontinuousimprovement acrossthePlantoPerformend-to-endprocess.
• Reviewconsolidatedbusinessperformancereportandprovideinsights,andcommentary to support data-driven Executive and Board decisions.
• ReviewsubmissionoffinancialperformancereportstotheACTGovernmentandother external agencies.
• Support senior decision makers in your assigned portfolios in understanding financial performance, budget impacts and commercial outcomes
• Translate complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations for non-financial stakeholders.
• Conduct detailed financial and commercial analysis to support business cases, investment decisions and strategic initiatives.
• Evaluate financial viability, risks, benefits and value-for-money outcomes of proposed projects and programs.
