Job summary

Roc Consulting in Brisbane is seeking a Group Financial Controller for a newly created role in a leading property development and construction group. You will initially operate standalone with a plan to grow the finance team, managing the group’s finance function and interfacing with external accountants and lenders.

The role covers group accounting, project accounting, cashflow, tax compliance, payroll, and treasury, with a strong emphasis on strategic tax planning and robust systems/controls

Qualifications

• CA/CPA Qualified
• 10+ years accounting experience (construction + property development)
• Experience in multi-entity environments (20+)
• Experience with complex private group structures
• GST, Payroll Tax, Div 7A, Land Tax and Tax consolidations experience
• Experience building out a finance team
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills

POSITION

The position of Group Financial Controller has been created due to the company looking to internalize their finance function.

This role will involve and not be limited to:

• Work under an experienced team of Directors
• Initially work in a standalone capacity with a view of building out the finance team in the short to medium term
• Preparation and ongoing management of the company's finance function
• Liaising with external accountants
• Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and financial institutions
• Group financial accounting, project accounting, cashflow and treasury, tax compliance and statutory compliance, Payroll, AP, AR
• Strategic tax planning
• Group structure and entity management
• Systems and controls
• Transaction support

CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

• CA/CPA Qualified
• 10+ years' accounting experience (minimum of 5 years exposure to the construction + property development industries)
• Ability to work in an multi entity environment (20+)
• Experience with complex private group structures
• QBCC MFR and development finance reporting experience
• Strong experience with GST, Payroll Tax, Div 7A, Land Tax and Tax consolidations
• Experience building out a finance team
• Very stable employment history
• Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Energetic and motivated personality with great multi-tasking
• Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills
