Job summary

Michael Page in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne is seeking a part-qualified or qualified CA/CPA professional to own month-end and year-end close activities. You will manage journals, accruals, prepayments and financial reporting while partnering with auditors and internal stakeholders.

The role offers a clear development pathway within a high-performing finance function, a hybrid 4 days in the office/1 day remote, and exposure to ERP systems (Business Central) and process improvement projects

Qualifications

• Part-qualified or qualified CA/CPA with a solid grounding in financial accounting fundamentals.
• Strong technical accounting skills, including journals, reconciliations, month-end processes and financial controls.
• Experience assisting with audits and confidently managing auditor queries and requests.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Partner with external auditors, responding to audit queries and providing supporting documentation and analysis.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and manage depreciation accounting.
• Support cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and bank guarantee administration.
• Assist with statutory reporting, audit requirements and compliance obligations.
• Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights and support business decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, systems and reporting efficiency.
• Support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions as required.
• Contribute to financial analysis, variance investigations and management reporting.
• Assist with system enhancement initiatives and automation projects to improve finance processes and controls.
