A government department in Tasmania is seeking a Financial Accountant to deliver financial operations and reporting obligations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, excellent communication skills, and a knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards. This role will involve interacting with multiple stakeholders, researching complex issues, and contributing to effective financial management practices. Flexibility in work hours is available, with a fixed-term appointment of 24 months.
Treasury is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Government Finance and Accounting Branch to provide financial and accounting policy advice related to the Departments cash and accrual financial operations and financial reporting obligations.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Department’s contemporary financial management practices by researching, analysing and identifying solutions to complex accounting and financial management issues, using critical thinking and extensive knowledge of accounting and financial management policy, frameworks and trends.
You will be a motivated and capable member of the Team with a strong financial accounting background, knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and contemporary financial management practices. You will remain abreast of emerging trends and develop options and recommendations to address accounting and financial issues as they arise.
This role suits someone motivated to operate with considerable independence to determine priorities, approach and delivery of work, and apply existing frameworks when making decisions. It also suits someone who has experience in delivering financial outcomes while managing competing priorities and meeting internal and legislative deadlines.
You will have excellent output management and communication skills. Your success requires the ability to navigate complex challenges, develop practical solutions, and clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
The Government Finance and Accounting Branch monitors and reports on finances at both an agency and whole-of-government level and develops and implements financial management policy advice for the General Government Sector.
Up to 73.5 - hours flexible - talk to us about how this could work for you. We are open to considering a range of flexible work options including part time hours.
This is a fixed term appointment for a period of 24 months
Relevant tertiary or industry qualifications.
