Job summary

seek.com.au is recruiting a Financial Accountant for a 6-month fixed-term contract to support accurate financial reporting, analysis and compliance across the finance function. You will prepare monthly financial results, perform balance sheet reconciliations, manage fixed asset schedules, assist with budgeting and monthly forecasting, and help with BAS preparation and lodgement.

• Experience supporting finance activities in retail, wholesale or inventory-based business.
• Deep understanding of month-end processes, journals and general ledger reconciliations.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with ability to interpret numbers.
• Exposure to inventory, fixed assets, GST/FBT or audit processes is a bonus.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance team member to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. In this role, you will support the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis and compliance outcomes as part of a broader finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly financial results


• Analytical review of results and provision of commentary to management


• Completion of balance sheet reconciliations for general ledger accounts


• Maintain fixed asset registers and relevant depreciation postings and schedules


• Maintenance of cost centres and chart of accounts

About you

• Previous experience supporting finance activities within a retail, wholesale or inventory-based business


• Deep understanding of month-end processes, journals and general ledger reconciliations


• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with an interest in understanding what the numbers mean for the business


• Exposure to inventory, fixed assets, GST/FBT returns or audit processes is a bonus, but not essential


• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and a willingness to learn and meet reporting deadlines
