Job summary

Toyota Finance Australia is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its Finance & Treasury team on a permanent, full-time basis. Based at Grosvenor Place, Sydney, this role focuses on treasury accounting, delivering accurate reporting and compliance with AASB/IFRS standards, and partnering with Treasury, Middle Office and auditors.

You will lead end-to-end treasury accounting cycles, support month-end close, prepare group disclosures, and look for process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

  • CA or CPA qualified with treasury accounting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AASB/IFRS (IFRS/ASFB) standards.
  • Experience in treasury accounting, derivatives, debt and disclosures.
  • Proficiency with SAP/SAP S/4HANA and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end treasury accounting activities with Treasury and Middle Office partners.
  • Lead month-end treasury accounting processes, reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Prepare quarterly group reporting deliverables and statutory disclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, SOX and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with finance, auditing teams and system vendors to resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and drive automation.

Job description

Toyota Finance Australia (TFA) is seeking an experience Financial Accountant to join its Finance & Treasury team on a permanent, full-time basis.

As a Financial Accountant focused on Treasury Accounting, you will be responsible for the full treasury accounting cycle, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards. Working closely with Treasury, Middle Office, Finance teams, auditors, and key business stakeholders, you will leverage your strong technical accounting skills and keen eye for detail to deliver high-quality outcomes. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping strengthen financial controls, optimise processes, and advance automation across Finance.

This role is based at Grosvenor Place, Sydney, with flexible working arrangements on offer.

How you'll make an impact
  • Manage end-to-end treasury accounting activities, partnering closely with Treasury and Middle Office teams to provide technical accounting support and ensure accurate accounting for debt, derivatives and other treasury transactions.
  • Lead the month-end treasury accounting process, including reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, variance analysis and timely resolution of accounting issues to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly Group reporting deliverables for the parent company and annual financial statement disclosures, covering derivatives, debt, securitisation and other treasury activities.
  • Ensure compliance with AASB/IFRS accounting standards, Group accounting policies, SOX requirements and financial controls, while monitoring and assessing the impact of emerging accounting standards.
  • Act as a trusted accounting advisor across the business, collaborating with Finance, Treasury, Data & Reporting teams, system vendors and external auditors to resolve accounting, reporting and system-related matters.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes, enhance reporting efficiency and increase automation across accounting function.
  • CA or CPA qualified with experience in treasury accounting, financial accounting and reporting within the banking or broader financial services industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AASB/IFRS accounting standards, particularly AASB 9 (Financial Instruments) and AASB 7 (Financial Instruments: Disclosures), with the ability to provide accounting advice on complex financial products and transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience in treasury accounting and reporting, including accounting for financial instruments, derivatives and debt, and preparation of disclosures for group and statutory financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to interpret large datasets, investigate accounting variances and resolve system or data-related issues.
  • Strong financial systems knowledge, with experience using SAP/SAP S/4HANA preferred; exposure to Quantum FIS, SQL and data analysis tools will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Treasury, Finance, auditors and business teams while driving continuous improvement, controls and reporting efficiencies.
