Job summary

Q-CTRL is seeking a Financial Accountant to support day-to-day accounting across our global entities. You will report to the Financial Controller based in Sydney and own activities from AP to month-end close with a proactive, process-driven mindset.

You’ll coordinate payroll processing, assist with tax compliance and work with auditors to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for investors and leaders. A fast‑paced startup environment awaits with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in general ledger accounting / bookkeeping
• Working towards or completed CA/CPA qualification
• IFRS knowledge; GAAP knowledge helpful
• Payroll experience across Australia, UK and/or USA
• Experience with Campfire, Ramp, Stripe or similar ERP; Excel proficiency
• Strong communication with non-finance stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting including AP/Expenses, Payroll, Banking, Journal Entries
• Manage payroll processing, superannuation and related reconciliations with third-party processors
• Prepare month-end close entries and reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company and fixed assets
• Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information and resolve reconciling items
• Assist with tax and statutory compliance obligations
• Assist in preparing financial statements notes and liaising with auditors
• Support project implementation of new procedures to improve workflow
• Collaborate with operational teams to resolve financial queries
• Involve in equity transactions and capital projects

About The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller based in Sydney, this newly created Financial Accountant role, is a hands-on position and will assist with all day-to-day accounting functions across our global entities. You are detail-oriented, proactive and process-driven, with a positive attitude and a passion for learning. You take ownership of your work, ensure high-quality outputs, and contribute to streamlined, accurate and timely financial reporting for our investors and business leaders.

What you'll be doing

• Hands on day-to-day accounting functions including but not limited to: Accounts Payable/Expenses, Payroll, Banking, Journal Entries, and assisting with managing external contract accountantsManage payroll processing, superannuation and related reconciliations, liasoning with Rippling and third party processors on payroll related transactions
• Assist with accurate and timely month end close by preparing various journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets and various other accounts
• Coordinate with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues
• Assist with the preparation and lodgement of tax and statutory compliance obligations
• Assist and in preparation of financial statements notes and collating information for our financial statement auditors.
• Assist in project implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the department
• Partner with operational teams across the business to resolve financial queries
• Opportunities to be involved with various equity transactions and capital projects

Ideally you'll have

• 3+ years in a position equivalent to a general ledger accountant/bookkeeper or higher responsibilities
• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline - Working towards or completion of CA / CPA qualification
• Good working knowledge of IFRS, knowledge of GAAP helpful.
• Experience in payroll processes across Australia, UK and/or the USA
• Experience with Campfire , Ramp, Stripe, (or similar accounting ERP),Google Workspace - Proficiency in Google Sheet/Excel
• Strong analytical skills and exceptional problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage non-finance stakeholders
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and confidence and adaptability in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment
