Job summary

ThompsonCook in Melbourne's CBD fringe area is seeking a Finance Officer to join a growing construction group. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will build practical experience in accounts payable/receivable and finance administration across residential and commercial projects.

This role is well suited to a recent graduate or someone with admin or data-entry experience looking to move into finance, offering hands-on, real-world exposure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or finance administration desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to maintaining accurate records.
• Confidence using systems and working with numbers.
• Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• A proactive approach to following up queries and resolving discrepancies, along with a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring the Accounts Payable inbox, processing supplier invoices and following up outstanding invoices and queries
• Setting up jobs and new suppliers, and preparing supplier credit applications
• Raising and emailing client invoices against the correct jobs and supporting information
• Receipting customer payments, allocating them to the correct accounts and invoices, and investigating discrepancies
• Maintaining accurate financial records, managing incoming documentation and escalating errors promptly
• Providing general finance and administrative support as required

The Opportunity

The Challenge
