Job summary

CBRE in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to own the financial performance of a significant retail portfolio. You will oversee monthly management accounts, review journals, manage budgets and outgoings, and work closely with senior stakeholders to influence strategic decision-making.

The role requires a CPA/CA, a Bachelor's in accounting or finance, substantial retail property accounting experience with supervisory responsibilities, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• CPA, CA or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Substantial retail property accounting experience with supervisory or management responsibility.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capability.
• Clear written and verbal communication with senior management, employees and external auditors.
• MRI or Yardi experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts.
• Review and approve journal entries prepared by the accounting group and manage the preparation of operational and financial statements.
• Prepare and manage outgoings reconciliations, budgets, and wash-ups.
• Oversee and manage the calculation of Percentage Rent, Extended Trade, Occupancy Capping, and Direct Recharges including overview of major tenant’s calculations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

The Opportunity:

About You:

• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving capability.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with confidence engaging senior management, employees and external auditors.
• Advanced accounting systems and software knowledge; MRI or Yardi experience is valued.
