Job summary

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart, is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Manager to join the Finance team. You will ensure accurate financial records, timely reports, and compliance with company policies while supporting budgeting and reconciliations.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will lead financial operations, mentor the team, and provide commercial insights to drive cost efficiencies and business performance in a luxury hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance, or currently working towards completion.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Advanced attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
• Experience with hotel accounting systems and Peoplesoft Systems is highly regarded.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Full Australian working rights are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the hotel's financial operations in line with Marriott policies and statutory requirements.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, month-end journals, reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, payroll compliance and fixed assets.
• Monitor cash flow forecasting, working capital controls, and budgeting processes.
• Support financial planning, analysis, and business performance reporting.
• Ensure GST, payroll tax, FBT, and withholding tax compliance and audits.
• Provide commercial insights to operational leaders and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Mentor Finance team members and support succession planning.
• Drive continuous improvement of controls and processes.
