Job summary

Australian Securities Exchange in Sydney is seeking a senior Commercial Planning professional to deliver robust financial planning and insightful analyses. You will partner with business units, forecast performance and support the Board with key metrics and revenue insights.

The role requires extensive management accounting experience, strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across Finance and the Board. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to influence key stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes.
• Strong technical accounting, business partnering, project management and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field, with CA/CPA qualifications.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience in a management accounting role, ideally within a commercial organisation.
• Experience in financial services or technology organisations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the business to form long- and short-term plans to maximise opportunities based on in-depth commercial insights and business knowledge.
• Understand the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs, and provide financial analysis and insights into performance. Identify trends, risks, opportunities and gaps, and present these to senior stakeholders across the business and Finance.
• Positively influence stakeholders to improve commercial performance and achieve business and financial objectives.
• Coordinate capital expenditure budgets and portfolio reporting.
• Collaborate with business partners on quarterly forecasts and monthly performance results, and develop annual budgets and five-year plans for revenue and expenses.
• Prepare monthly management and Board reports, including reports on ratios, key transactions, revenue statistics and KPIs.

Your Team:

The Commercial Planning team is the Group's central financial performance management function. The purpose of the team is to deliver robust financial information and explain the drivers of the company's performance, both over the short to medium term and in the past.

The team supports the Group Executives and Board with insightful analysis of financial and operating performance and acts as a trusted adviser to management.

Your Responsibilities:

• Partner with the business to form long- and short-term plans to maximise opportunities based on in-depth commercial insights and business knowledge.
• Understand the business strategy, value drivers and KPIs, and provide financial analysis and insights into performance. Identify trends, risks, opportunities and gaps, and present these to senior stakeholders across the business and Finance.

Your Experience and Qualifications:

Must Have

• Proven ability to influence key stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes.
• Strong technical accounting, business partnering, project management and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or a related field, along with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia qualifications.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience in a management accounting role, ideally within a commercial organisation.
• Relevant industry experience in a financial services or technology organisation would be advantageous.

Nice to Have:

• Ability to be a self-starter, operate independently and demonstrate a curious mindset.
• Ability to critically analyse and solve complex problems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, as the role has significant exposure to all levels of senior management, including Group Executives and the Board of Directors.
• An interest in financial services, including financial products, markets and securities exchanges.
