Job summary

Hnry is expanding its Australian finance function and seeks a hands-on, process‑oriented finance professional. This role covers day‑to‑day operations, month‑end, BAS lodgements, and payroll for the Australian entity, with opportunities to automate tasks using AI.

You will work closely with external bookkeepers, auditors, and department managers, reporting to the Internal Finance Manager, and contribute to scalable financial processes in a fast‑growing startup.

Qualifications

• Qualified in finance or accounting, with experience in accounting, audit, or tax.
• Strong communication, customer-service, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Able to prioritise and work proactively in a fast-paced environment; both independently and in a team.
• Curiosity about AI and its application to finance and accounting work; comfortable adopting new tools.
• Willingness to contribute ideas and drive process improvements across the company.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day financial operations for the Australian entity, including accounts payable and receivable, and bookkeeping oversight.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, budget variance analysis, and key metric reports.
• Support implementation and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
• Help draft and maintain right-sized financial policies for a fast-growing start-up.
• Support Australian tax compliance (GST, PAYG withholding, fringe benefits tax, payroll tax) and BAS lodgements with external advisors.
• Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements with external auditors and advisors.
• Help prepare payroll for the Australian entity.
• Liaise with external bookkeepers to improve processes and deliver timely financial reports.
• Monitor bank accounts and support treasury activities, including intercompany cash allocation and term deposits.
