Job summary

The Shift People is seeking a commercially minded Finance Analyst to join our fast-growing wellness brand based in the Byron Bay region. Hybrid role with remote flexibility and time on-site in the Byron Bay / Ballina area.

You’ll turn numbers into decisions across ecommerce, retail, operations and leadership, building forecasts, analysing margins and identifying opportunities to improve profitability while keeping a clear line of sight on performance for the team.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial analysis or commercial finance.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets and data interpretation.
• Understanding of P&L, budgeting and forecasting.
• Ability to translate numbers into actionable insights.
• Experience in fashion/retail/ecommerce brands is a plus.
• BI, ERP or inventory platforms familiarity is valued.

Responsibilities

• Weekly and monthly sales, margin and performance reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow analysis.
• Analyzing revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profitability.
• Tracking actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
• Product, category and channel profitability analysis.
• Inventory, stock turn, markdown and sell-through analysis.
• Creating clear dashboards and commercial reporting.
• Identifying trends, risks and growth opportunities.
• Supporting month-end and management reporting.
• Partnering with teams across the business to improve commercial decision-making.

We’re a fast-growing wellness brand based in the Byron Bay region, and we’re looking for a sharp, commercially minded Finance Analyst to join our team.

This isn’t your traditional finance role.

You’ll be part of a creative, energetic and fast-moving business where finance sits at the heart of the decisions we make - from what we buy and how we trade, to where we invest and how we grow.

And because we believe great work doesn’t need to happen behind the same desk five days a week, this is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely, balanced with time alongside the team in the Byron Bay / Ballina area.

The Role:

You’ll help turn numbers into decisions.

Working across finance, eCommerce, retail, operations and leadership, you’ll give the business a clear picture of what’s happening, why it’s happening and where the opportunities are.

One day you might be analysing product margins and sell-through. The next, building a forecast, digging into inventory performance or helping leadership understand where we should focus next.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Weekly and monthly sales, margin and performance reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow analysis
• Analysing revenue, gross margin, operating costs and profitability
• Tracking actual performance against budgets and forecasts
• Product, category and channel profitability analysis

• Continuously finding smarter ways to improve our financial reporting and processes

Who You Are

You love the detail, but you can also zoom out and see the bigger picture.

You’re naturally curious. If something changes in the numbers, you want to understand why.

You can take a spreadsheet full of information and turn it into something the wider team can actually understand and act on.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Experience in financial analysis, commercial finance, management accounting or a similar role
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
• Solid knowledge of P&L, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
• Strong commercial and analytical thinking
• Excellent attention to detail
• Confidence communicating financial information to non-finance teams
• The ability to move quickly and juggle priorities without losing your cool
• Experience in fashion, retail, eCommerce or consumer brands would be a big advantage
• Experience with BI, ERP or inventory platforms is highly regarded

CA/CPA qualifications are welcomed, but we’re equally interested in your experience, commercial instincts and how you think.
