Job summary

ChoiceOne is recruiting for a MESO/ESO BG4 Qualified – Emergency Response Technician in Western Australia’s Goldfields region. This FIFO role will support surface and underground operations, delivering rapid response, routine maintenance, and stringent safety compliance in a fast-paced mining environment.

The successful candidate will have BG4 qualification, multiple healthcare and safety credentials, and at least 3 years in mining/heavy industry, with strong documentation and communication

Qualifications

• Current MESO/ESO BG4 qualification.
• SCBA qualifications for underground response or BG4 Closed Circuit Breathing Apparatus competency (BioPaks are used on site).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Certificate IV in Healthcare (Ambulance) or Diploma of Emergency Health Care (or higher).
• Certificate IV TAE (preferred).
• Cert III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue.
• Certificate III Public Safety.
• HLTPAT005 – Collect Specimens for Drug & Alcohol Testing.
• Advanced Life Support (ALS1 or ALS2).
• Minimum MR Driver's Licence.
• Current National Police Clearance.
• Strong computer literacy and attention to documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform switching, isolation, and restoration duties in accordance with BG4 authorisation.
• Conduct maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical and mechanical assets.
• Provide rapid and effective response to site emergencies, including medical and fire incidents.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and operational standards.
• Liaise with control and operations teams to maintain safe site conditions.
• Maintain detailed logs, reports, and documentation for all activities.

About the Role

As a MESO/ESO BG4 Qualified Technician, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site electrical and mechanical systems, while delivering emergency response and rescue services to support both Surface and Underground operations.

This is an ongoing contract with the potential to go from Temp to Perm.

You’ll play a key role in incident response, maintenance, and operational readiness, ensuring all work meets strict safety and compliance standards.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a combination of technical expertise, emergency response experience, and a strong safety-first mindset. ONLY candidates who hold BG4 qualifications will be considered for this role.
