Job summary

PLS is seeking a Field Technician to support its exploration team in the Pilbara region. The role emphasizes safety, accurate data handling, and efficient coordination of daily field activities.

You will assist geologists, supervise drill site work, manage sample flow, and help maintain site infrastructure while collaborating with a small, dedicated team in a fast-moving clean energy project. Primary location is Pilbara, WA.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to record and process data.

• Current manual West Australian driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan daily activities with Exploration Team and ensure accuracy.
• Assist geologists with pre-starts, vehicle checks and safety reporting.
• Supervise drill site pad preparation and access to exploration areas.
• Collect, package and dispatch samples from RC and diamond drilling programs.
• Handle core processing workflow tasks: marking, presentation, measurements, sampling, photography and XRF.
• Record data accurately and support data entry of geological information.
• Maintain exploration facilities, stores and drill core areas in order.
• Keep exploration vehicles clean and maintained.
• Assist with drill site rehabilitation and cyclone prep.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Field Technician, the Field Technician is responsible for assisting the exploration team achieve optimum production with their exploration programs in a manner that enhances safety, culture and performance within PLS.

Key Responsibilities

• Interact with Exploration Team on a daily basis to ensure that daily work activities are fully planned, coordinated and accurate;
• Assist exploration geologists with all administrative tasks such as pre-starts, vehicle checks, health and safety reporting;
• Supervise drill site pad preparation and access to exploration areas within both mine site and regional areas;
• Collect, package, record and dispatch samples from RC and diamond drilling programs;
• Complete all tasks associated with the diamond drilling core processing workflow including but not limited to core mark-up, core presentation, geotechnical measurements, cutting and sampling, core photography and XRF measurements;
• Complete accurate recording of samples, submissions and assay returns; Assist exploration geologists with the recording of accurate data entry of geological information;
• Maintaining Exploration Hub, sample storage facilities, drill core farm and other exploration work areas in a well ordered and tidy manner;
• Ensure exploration vehicles are kept tidy and well maintained;
• Complete all tasks associated with drill site rehabilitation and;
• Assist with cyclone preparation activities

About you

• Current manual West Australian driver's license
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Demonstrated ability to record and process data.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Ability to supervise and mentor junior field assistants
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Software.
• Collaborative, team participant.
• Physical fitness to meet the demands of heat and outdoor physical work.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate to achieve results.
