Job summary

Department of Primary Industries in Queensland seeks a Team Leader to guide a field-based team delivering surveillance, treatment and sampling for the National Fire Ant Eradication Program. You will balance operational planning with hands-on leadership to achieve program outcomes.

The role focuses on team performance, safety and capability development, with field leadership and data recording using GPS and tablets in South East Queensland.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and managing teams with a focus on operational delivery.
• Strong planning, organisational skills and safety commitment.
• Confident communication with staff, stakeholders and community.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Hold a current C class driver licence and First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities

• Lead a field-based team delivering surveillance, treatment and biosecurity activities.
• Plan, coordinate and monitor daily operations to meet targets.
• Coach and develop team members to improve capability and performance.
• Manage wellbeing, attendance, performance and workplace conduct.
• Provide field leadership, QA and problem-solving support.
• Use GPS devices and tablets to monitor progress and record data.
• Engage with landholders, stakeholders and community members.
• Promote safety culture and ensure WHS compliance.
• Support field ops including surveillance, mapping, trapping and sampling.
