Job summary

BMA Energy is an Australian owned company specializing in gas powered and renewable energy generation. We seek experienced mechanical technicians for field service and maintenance across Sydney/NSW and South Queensland, with travel to interstate sites as needed.

You will service, maintain and overhaul large gas engines (Jenbacher, Waukesha, Caterpillar) and related plant equipment, bringing strong electrical/mechanical diagnostic skills to the role. A vehicle, phone and laptop are provided.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience with Waukesha, Jenbacher and Caterpillar gas engines.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to travel interstate frequently as required.
• Trade qualifications in mechanical or electrical are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on gas engines and related plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults and ensure operational reliability.
• Attend service calls in field and workshop environments as needed.

Located across Australia, BMA Energy provides service, parts, operation and maintenance as well as engineering & design along with project management and technical support for reciprocating gas engines & power generation plants.

About the role

We are seeking experienced, highly motivated mechanical technicians to join the team for various field service & maintenance works within the gas power & compression industry in Sydney / NSW & South Queensland . The role will involve the servicing, maintenance & overhauling of large gas engines & power station equipment within Australia. The right candidate must be able to travel Interstate on a frequent basis when required.

As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Jenbacher, Waukesha & Caterpillar gas engines & associated plant equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs, ensuring the optimal performance of these engines in a variety of operational settings.

Experience with Waukesha, Jenbacher & Caterpillar engines & equipment is desired.

Skills and experience

• 5 Years proven experience working with Waukesha, Jenbacher & Caterpillar gas engines, with a focus on both mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of engine diagnostics, electrical control systems, and associated equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components on gas engines.
• Familiarity with relevant safety standards and best practices.
• Technical certification in electrical or mechanical (preferred).
• Ability to read Electrical schematics & P&ID drawings.
• Understanding of Work orders & workflow process.
• Experience with SCADA systems and engine monitoring software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel for service calls as needed.
• Trade qualifications in mechanical or electrical are mandatory for this position.
• Type-B Gas qualification / Licence would be an advantage.
• Electrical licence or NREL licence would be an advantage.
