Job summary

Weir Group in Australia is seeking a Field Service Technician to support critical GEHO equipment at customer sites and Weir service centres. The role is onsite with regular travel, focused on maintenance, repairs and installations to maximise equipment uptime.

You will work with service teams to improve efficiency, apply lean principles, and lead with safety in a dynamic mining environment. Strong mechanical trade background and customer-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fitting and machining with tight tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with customers.
  • Leadership experience or ability to lead teams.
  • Adaptable, solution-focused with lean principles knowledge.
  • Proven commitment to safe work practices in field/workshop.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, rebuilds and installations on GEHO equipment to maximise reliability.
  • Provide hands-on field service, supervise customer personnel onsite, and build strong customer relationships.
  • Collaborate with service teams to improve operational efficiency, apply lean principles, and support growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrate leadership through safe work practices, workforce engagement, flexibility, and business objectives.
  • Travel regularly to customer sites and service centres for inspections, maintenance, testing, and documentation.
  • Maintain a zero-harm safety focus in all activities.

What you'll do

Perform maintenance, repairs, rebuilds, and installations on critical Weir GEHO equipment to maximise reliability and minimise downtime.

Deliver hands‑on field service support, supervise customer personnel onsite, and build strong customer relationships.

Collaborate with service teams to improve operational efficiency, apply lean principles, and support business growth initiatives.

Demonstrate leadership through safe work practices, workforce engagement, flexibility, and a commitment to achieving business objectives.

Travel regularly to customer sites and service centres to complete inspections, maintenance, testing, documentation, and project work while maintaining a zero‑harm safety focus.

What you'll bring

Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, Machining, or related discipline (AQF Level III or higher).

Proven experience in fitting and machining within workshop and onsite environments, delivering work to precise tolerances.

Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety procedures, and maintenance instructions.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting with customers and stakeholders.

Previous leadership experience or the demonstrated ability to lead teams and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Adaptable and solutions‑focused, with knowledge of lean principles and practical application of mathematical concepts in the workplace.
