Job summary

Macadamia Farm Management is seeking a motivated Field Service Mechanic to support one of Australia’s leading macadamia farming operations. Based near Bundaberg, the role is full-time with field and workshop work, ensuring tractors and farm machinery run reliably for seasonal demand.

You will diagnose, service, and repair equipment in the orchards and workshop, maintain safety standards, and collaborate with farm managers and the maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Plant Mechanic with hands-on experience.
• Comfortable working independently in the field and in a workshop.
• Strong diagnostic skills and practical problem-solving mindset.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and pride in workmanship.
• Current driver’s licence (HR preferred).
• Experience in agriculture or heavy machinery is highly regarded.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple farm sites and workshop colleagues.
• Auto electrical and hydraulic experience highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Mobile diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on tractors, trucks, farm machinery, and other farming equipment
• Responding to breakdowns and field service across multiple farm sites
• Hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairs
• Preventative maintenance programs and scheduled services
• Workshop-based repairs, component rebuilds, and fabrication support as required
• Ensuring machinery is safe, compliant, and operational — in time for seasonal demands
• Maintaining good communication with farm managers and the wider maintenance team

This is a full-time role based near Bundaberg. You’ll spend most of your time out on farm responding to breakdowns and carrying out scheduled maintenance, with some workshop based work when required.

About the Role

You will be responsible for keeping our fleet of tractors, trucks, farm machinery, and associated equipment running reliably — both out in the orchards and in the workshop.
