Job Summary

In this role, you will report to the Construction Manager - Capital Projects.

You will monitor that the contractor is compliant with project specifications and requirements.

The Field Engineer supports engineering design, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure construction quality and compliance with specifications and regulatory standards.

Major Responsibilities

Planning / Productivity

• Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and technical representatives, as instructed by construction management to ensure program delivery priorities are maintained.
• Review all contractor submittals including construction schedules, costs, reports, and changes.
• Coordinate data for reports and forecasts, including summaries of construction progress and expenditure forecasts.
• Support and assist internal stakeholders regarding onsite project related activities and logistics.

Safety & Quality

• Actively monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements and encourage contractors to perform in a safe manner.
• Monitor work activities and the quality of work performed by the contractor.
• Coordinate service providers for technical inspections of the project contractor's works.
• Provide input into contractor's monthly quality, quantity and technical reviews as required.
• Review design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction associated with the contractor’s scope of works.
• Review the flow of information required from third party companies or D & C contractors to facilitate the timely progress of the engineering work.
• Review field engineering progress, quality records and quantity verification against approved schedules, evaluate changes and advise corrective action when required.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Must have strong aviation industry experience, experience in Australia preferred.
• Must have strong Baggage Handling System specific experience.
• Broad knowledge of aviation industry/regulatory codes and standards.
• Knowledge of related construction systems, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials for major Infrastructure projects.
• High level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
• Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
• Prior delivery partner or client-side project management experience is preferred but not essential.
• Computer literate in MS Office and database applications as well as BIM environments required.
