Job summary

Agri Labour Australia Pty is seeking 100 Feedlot General Hands for positions across Chinchilla and surrounding areas in Queensland. Work starts from September 2026. Duties include labouring on a cattle feedlot, truck operation, and livestock handling with a focus on animal welfare and safety.

Role is permanent full-time, with hourly rate of $26.85 and a minimum 38 hours per week. Up to 4 years of work with upskilling opportunities, aligned with the Pastoral Award.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• General labouring on a cattle feedlot including daily tasks.
• Truck operation with pre-start checks and refuelling of trucks/machinery.
• Cleaning of feedlot pens and transport of manure to designated areas.
• General machinery operation within the feedlot and farm.
• Labouring/stock handling: loading/unloading cattle and induction.
• Autopsy assistance of livestock and adherence to QA practices.
• Record keeping and NLIS compliance.

Job Description

Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated meat processing operations located in Chinchilla and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill 100 Feedlot General Hand positions across their farming sites, with work commencing from September 2026 onwards.

You are required to work in a feedlot environment. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased animals. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting and long days on your feet.

You will be paid under Pastoral Award – Level 2, at an hourly rate of $26.85 per hour, with a minimum of 38 hours of work, per week. This will be aligned with the Fair Work Commission's annual reviews, including any increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay.

You will be offered between 1-4 years of work with potential to upskill. Key duties include: General labouring on a cattle feedlot Truck operation:

• Daily inspection, pre-start checks and refueling of trucks and machinery.
• Cleaning of feedlot pens and transport of manure to designated areas.
• General machinery operation within the feedlot and farm

General transport of material as required.

• Cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Compliance with Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Labouring/stock handling:

• Handling livestock in yards, pens and paddocks.
• Loading and unloading cattle to/from trucks.
• Inducting cattle.
• Cleaning water troughs.
• Assisting with maintenance and repairs to the feedlot generally i.e. fencing, cleaning vehicles & sheds.
• Utilise low stress livestock handling methods.
• Assist with autopsy of livestock.
• Adoption and conformance of quality assurance practices, policies and procedures.
• Compliance with Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Using computers for record keeping practices particularly for compliance with the NLIS scheme and inducting and treating cattle.

Mill hand:

• Daily inspection and cleaning of feed bunks.
• Cleaning equipment and machinery.
• Preparation and delivery of cattle ration to feedlot and paddock feed bunks.
• Record keeping for daily/manually feeding, using computers and other methods.
• Checking calibration of feed truck and batch box scales.
• Adoption and conformance with quality assurance practices, policies and procedures.
• Compliance with Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• maintenance of vehicles and machinery onsite
• Any other duties as reasonably requested.
