Job summary

CherryHill Orchards Pty Ltd is hiring for Farm Hand and Forklift Operator roles across regional Victoria. The positions involve supporting daily harvest operations, tractor work, and general farming duties with weekend availability.

Forklift duties are included for licensed applicants, with flexibility on hours and potential progression to permanent roles. We value practical skills, reliability, safety, and the ability to work well both in a team and independently.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence is highly regarded for those performing forklift duties.
• Current driver’s licence is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude is beneficial for operating and maintaining farming equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and assist with harvesting operations.
• Perform general farming tasks and labouring as required.
• Support forklift-related duties including loading/unloading trucks and moving bins (where licensed).
• Assist with receival shed operations and equipment movement as scheduled.
• Adapt to varying start/finish times and weekend availability.

Orchard Farmhand & Forklift Operator – Cobram VIC 3644 (1 position available) – Seasonal position, immediate start until approx January/27

Orchard Farmhand – Avenel VIC 3664 (2 positions available) – Seasonal positions, immediate start, with the possibility of continuing with casual shifts after the season or transitioning to a permanent full-time role for the right candidate

About the role(s)

The role supports the day-to-day harvest operations of the farm, along with general farming activities as required. Duties may include tractor driving, general labouring and assisting with harvesting operations, which may require additional hours during the spring and summer seasons. Availability to work weekends during this period is also required.

For candidates holding a forklift licence, duties will also include supporting receival shed operations, loading and unloading trucks, and moving bins and equipment, alongside other general farming duties as scheduled throughout the day.

Due to the nature of orchard operations and varying start and finish times, flexibility with working hours is highly valued.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as a Farm Hand/Forklift Operator. The ideal candidates will possess practical skills, interpersonal abilities, and a strong work ethic. You should have a genuine appreciation for nature and agriculture, along with a strong commitment to safety and ensuring a secure environment for everyone on the farm.

You must hold a current driver’s licence and have a reliable car

Chemical users’ certificate highly regarded

Forklift Licence: Required for candidates performing forklift-related duties in this role

Relevant licences and qualifications pertinent to agriculture would be an advantage

Sound mechanical knowledge

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with team members

Ability to liaise with management to overcome challenges and address orchard issues.

Proven experience in following OHS practices in farm or outdoor environments.

Comfortable working under different seasonal weather conditions.

Working both collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience:

A demonstrated passion for regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices.

A desire to innovatively develop best and safe practices, and farming techniques and processes.

Mechanical aptitude and experience in operating and maintaining a range of modern farming equipment and being a positive member of a work team.
