Job summary

The Gatton Smart Farm invites a Farm Supervisor to lead daily farm operations for cutting-edge agricultural research in the Lockyer Valley. You will supervise the farm team and coordinate land prep, planting, irrigation, crop management and harvesting with researchers and partners.

Essentially you hold an Australian Diploma or Associate Diploma in Agriculture or Plant Sciences (or higher), a current C class licence, and hands-on farming or horticultural research experience, including GPS-enabled

Qualifications

• There is an Australian Diploma or Associate Diploma in Agriculture or Plant Sciences (or higher qualification in a related discipline).
• A current C class driver's licence.
• Experience in farming and/or horticultural crop research.
• You will bring practical experience operating farm and heavy machinery, particularly GPS-enabled equipment and PTO attachments, together with leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate farm operations, including land preparation, planting, irrigation, crop management, harvesting and chemical application across horticultural and broadacre research programs.
• Supervise, mentor and develop farm support staff while fostering a safe, collaborative and high-performing workplace.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain agricultural machinery, specialist research equipment and farm infrastructure to ensure research projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Work closely with researchers and clients to provide technical support, allocate resources and contribute to the successful delivery of agricultural research trials.
• Support the adoption of innovative farming technologies, including digital agriculture applications, autonomous systems and drone-enabled research activities.
