Flintwood Disability Services Ltd. in NSW is seeking a reliable Site Assistant to support day-to-day care and maintenance at Flintwood Farm / Romein’s Retreat. The position offers flexible scheduling, part-time hours (15 per week), and opportunities to contribute to a hands-on work environment with a not-for-profit ethos and community impact.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Willing to learn gardening, animal care and maintenance.
• Physically capable of routine outdoor tasks.
• Knowledge of workplace safety and manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Feed and provide fresh water to animals daily.
• Monitor animal health and wellbeing, report concerns.
• Clean and maintain animal enclosures, feeding areas and water containers.
• Maintain lawns, pathways and outdoor areas.
• Assist with watering, weeding, planting, pruning and general garden care.
• Support farm facilities maintenance and pest/damage reporting.
• Prepare guest accommodation and assist with general site duties as required.

Flintwood Disability is seeking a reliable, practical and hands-on Site Assistant to support the day-to-day care and maintenance of our farm environment at Flintwood Farm / Romein’s Retreat.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, caring for animals, maintaining gardens and grounds, and contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming environment for participants, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Animal Care

• Feed and provide fresh water to animals each day.
• Monitor animal health and wellbeing, and report any concerns.
• Clean and maintain animal enclosures, feeding areas, and water containers.
• Ensure animal areas are clean, safe, and secure.
• Assist with watering, weeding, planting, pruning, and general garden care.
• Maintain lawns, pathways, and outdoor areas.
• Remove garden waste and report any pest, disease, or maintenance concerns.
• Assist with pool area cleaning and upkeep.

Farm & Site Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-presented farm environment.
• Complete basic maintenance tasks and care for tools and equipment.
• Help maintain animal enclosures, gardens, and farm facilities.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance issues promptly.

B&B & Guest Accommodation

• Prepare guest accommodation, including cleaning and making beds.
• Assist with purchasing supplies and guest check-ins when required.
• Ensure accommodation areas are clean, safe, and welcoming.

General Duties

• Monitor and order site, garden, and animal care supplies.
• Assist contractors and maintenance personnel as required.
• Complete routine site duties, including waste management and general upkeep.

Work Health and Safety

The successful applicant will:

• Follow Flintwood’s Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Use PPE, tools, equipment, and chemicals safely and as instructed.
• Apply safe manual handling practices and maintain a safe work environment.
• Report hazards, incidents, injuries, animal welfare concerns, and maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure all animal care, gardening, and farm activities are carried out safely.

We are looking for someone who is:

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.

• Knowledgeable about workplace safety, manual handling, and the safe use of tools and equipment.
• Professional and respectful when working with participants, colleagues, visitors, and contractors.
