HG Turf Group in Victoria is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee daily turf and pasture production, lead a small team, and coordinate with maintenance and logistics to ensure timely harvests and deliveries. The role suits a practical leader with agriculture experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on farming environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading, or capability to lead, an agricultural or farming environment.
  • Experience managing farming operations, preferably turf, crop or pasture management.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and confidence operating machinery.
  • Ability to lead by example and work well within a team.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily turf production: planting, irrigation, fertilising, spraying, mowing and harvesting.
  • Monitor crop performance and implement agronomic programs to maximise turf quality and productivity.
  • Plan and coordinate seasonal activities to meet production targets and customer demand.
  • Collaborate with the Mechanical Workshop to maintain equipment and ensure availability.
  • Coordinate harvesting schedules and timely deliveries with the Logistics team.
  • Lead and mentor farm staff, fostering a positive team culture; maintain WHS compliance.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager, or someone ready to take the next step into Farm Management, to oversee the day-to-day operations of our turf and pasture production business. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the efficient establishment, maintenance and harvesting of high-quality turf while leading a dedicated team and working closely with other key areas of the business.

This role is ideal for a practical and organised leader with experience in agriculture and/or farm production, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic agricultural environment. Whether you've already managed a farming operation or you're ready to take the next step into Farm Management, this role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established operation and make a genuine impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of daily turf production, including planting, irrigation, fertilising, spraying, mowing and harvesting.
  • Monitoring crop performance and implementing best-practice agronomic programs to maximise turf quality and productivity.
  • Planning and coordinating seasonal activities to meet production targets and customer demand.
  • Working collaboratively with the Mechanical Workshop to ensure machinery and equipment are maintained, serviced and available to support operations.
  • Liaising closely with the Logistics team to coordinate harvesting schedules, product availability and timely deliveries to customers.
  • Managing the farm’s pasture program for livestock, including pasture establishment, fertilisation, irrigation and rotational grazing practices.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise farm staff, promoting a positive and productive team culture.
  • Maintain workplace health and safety compliance
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience leading, or demonstrating the capability to lead, an agricultural or farming environment.
  • Experience managing, or playing a significant leadership role within, farming operations, preferably within turf production, crop or pasture management, or a related agricultural enterprise.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and confidence operating machinery
  • Ability to lead by example and work well within a team
  • Current Driver’s Licence
