Job summary

The NSW Department of Education is seeking a capable farm operations assistant to help prepare and maintain agricultural plots in a school setting. You will work with staff to ensure crop production, animal care, and equipment maintenance are carried out safely and efficiently.

You will need strong planning, prioritising and communication skills to coordinate tasks, supervise learners where applicable, and support the ongoing maintenance of farm infrastructure across secondary or central schools

To be successful in the role you will need to have good planning and prioritising skills and good communication skills to work effectively with others.

Key responsibilities

• You will perform a range of tasks in relation to the preparation and maintenance of a Departmental agricultural plot at a secondary or central school that offers agriculture on its curriculum.
• The role assists with: crop production and disposal; machinery operation; maintenance of machinery, tools and equipment; care and supervision of livestock; receipt and storage of supplies; and general farm maintenance.
• A talent pool is a group of candidates who have undergone an assessment process and have been identified as suitable for this role or similar roles for a period of 12 months.
