Job summary

Marymead CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn is seeking a qualified Counsellor to join our team as a Family Counsellor. The role offers both full-time and part-time arrangements across 3 days per week, with a focus on children, young people and adults.

You will deliver individual counselling and facilitate group programs, while maintaining accurate records and reports and contributing to service development in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
• Registration with AHPRA and/or membership with AASW, PACFA or ACA.
• Experience in individual counselling and group facilitation, particularly family relationships and post-separation support.

Job description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for Family Counsellors to join our team on either a full-time or part-time basis, with part-time work available across 3 days per week.

The Role

As a Counsellor, you will provide therapeutic counselling to children, young people and adults across a diverse range of presentations and individual needs.

You will work with clients experiencing a range of complex and often sensitive issues, including relationship challenges, communication difficulties, parenting matters before and after separation, and grief and loss. You will use your counselling skills to support clients to develop greater insight, resilience and practical strategies for positive change.

The role includes delivering individual counselling sessions as well as facilitating group programs. You will also undertake essential administrative and clinical responsibilities, including maintaining accurate clinical records, preparing relevant reports, completing data entry and other associated tasks.

About You

You will be a qualified and experienced Counsellor with a strong commitment to supporting individuals and families.

To be successful, you will have:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
• Registration with AHPRA and/or membership with AASW, PACFA or ACA.
• Experience in individual counselling and group facilitation, particularly family relationships and post-separation support.
• Experience working with children, young people and adults.
• The ability to support clients presenting with complex issues and crisis situations.
• Strong communication, organisation and time management skills.
• Knowledge of evidence-informed practice, person-centred approaches and mandatory reporting.
• Understanding of relevant legislation, privacy, confidentiality, WHS and professional standards.
• Three years’ sector experience is desirable.
• Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
• Satisfactory Criminal History Check
