Job summary

Grampians Community Health is seeking a Family and Carer Peer Support Worker to support families and carers across Stawell or Horsham. The role is permanent/part-time, 26.6 hours per week, offering training and a supportive team.

You will draw on lived experience to listen, encourage, and connect carers with local services, with flexibility to work face-to-face, by phone, online or in community settings. We welcome applicants with empathy and strong communication, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Personal lived experience of supporting a family member or loved one with mental health or AOD challenges.
• Ability to use experiences to provide hope and support to others.
• Compassion, empathy and a non-judgemental approach.
• Ability to communicate respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Willingness to learn about local services and supports available to carers and families.
• Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provide listening ear, encouragement and guidance to carers and families.
• Support may be provided face-to-face, over the phone, online or in community settings.
• Assist carers and families with information and practical support.
• Utilise personal experience to connect with clients and model hope.
