Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking a Facilities Senior Engineer to oversee 24x7 data centre operations, maintenance and documentation. You will mentor the engineering team, coordinate performance and coverage, and ensure uptime of critical electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Technical training in electrical or mechanical facilities or related field.
• 5+ years supporting 24x7 data center facility management in a mission-critical environment.
• Experience mentoring teams and coordinating performance and coverage for 5+ members.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, UPS, PDUs) and cooling systems.
• Proficiency in CMMS/BMS/DCIM and MS Office suite; familiarity with OH&S rules.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Facilities Senior Engineer

Job Description Summary

The Facilities Senior Engineer is accountable for supporting the planning, maintenance, and documentation of Data Centre operations and associated mission critical infrastructures toward the economy and maximum utilisation of facilities, equipment, and contract resources. As a member of the Facilities Team, the Facilities Senior Engineer will support mentoring practices of engineering staff to ensure continuity of training and quality results. The Facilities Senior Engineer ensures effective oversight of the uptime of the facilities, all contractor activities and maintains responsibility of projects and required maintenance best practices. He/she will be reporting to the Facilities Lead Engineer.

About the Role:

• Execute all aspects of 24x7 data center operations, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of mission-critical equipment and systems to support uptime, compliance, and customer SLA requirements
• Support the Facilities Lead Engineer in supervising, mentoring, and developing the Facilities Engineering team, while helping drive performance, accountability, and roster coordination
• Maintain electrical and mechanical infrastructure in line with manufacturer recommendations, corporate standards, and industry best practices
• Manage contractors, service providers, consultants, and project teams to support maintenance, repairs, capital improvements, and facilities-related projects
• Develop, implement, and audit MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, sequence of operations, and maintenance standards, while using BMS, CMMS, and DCIM tools to improve operational efficiency and energy performance
• Conduct facilities rounds, inspections, troubleshooting, safety checks, incident follow-up, and operational reporting, while supporting customer confidence, regulatory compliance, and safe site operations

About You:

• Technical trade license, certification, or equivalent training in electrical, mechanical, facilities, or a related discipline
• More than 5 years of experience supporting 24x7 data center facility management, with more than 3 years of experience in a mission-critical environment
• Experience supporting or supervising engineering teams, with the ability to mentor team members and help coordinate performance, development, and operational coverage for teams of at least 5 members
• Extensive operational knowledge of critical electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, ATS, UPS, STS, DRUPS, battery management systems, generators, and PDUs, as well as mechanical systems including chillers, DX systems, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers, VFDs, BMS, and fire detection and suppression
• Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, project coordination, and organizational skills, with the ability to interpret complex operational documents, technical procedures, and budget or incident reports
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with proficiency in CMMS, BMS, DCIM, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, plus a solid understanding of regulatory codes, permit processes, and OH&S requirements
