Job summary

Little Miracles is seeking a Facilities Caretaker to join our team across multiple Central Coast centres. This full-time role (38 hours/week) includes on-site maintenance, reactive and preventative tasks, and ensuring safe, well-presented environments for children and families.

Ideal candidates have maintenance or facilities experience, can work across several sites, and maintain records efficiently. Flexibility includes some Saturday tasks outside normal hours to support centre operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to complete minor repairs independently across a range of tasks.
  • Experience working across multiple sites of locations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete allocated maintenance and landscaping activities.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance within agreed timeframes.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain visibility of maintenance across sites.
  • Identify and escalate maintenance risks and asset concerns.

Job Description

Little Miracles is a family owned organisation that provides quality education and care through our six childcare centres across the Central Coast. We are looking for a Facilities Caretaker to join our team and contribute to providing this high quality service. This is a full time role of 38 hours per week with flexibility, as some tasks will need to be completed on Saturdays outside of our centre operating hours.

Purpose of the Role

The Facilities Caretaker is the primary on-site maintenance presence across Little Miracles centres. The role is responsible for delivering day-to-day reactive and preventative maintenance activities that support safe, compliant, functional and well-presented environments for children, families and teams. Working within priorities and schedules established by the Head of Maintenance, the Facilities Caretaker completes maintenance tasks, identifies emerging issues, supports centre presentation standards and contributes to the efficient operation of all sites through proactive maintenance and timely resolution of maintenance requests.

The role requires a high level of self-motivation, efficient use of time and accountability while working independently across multiple locations.

Role Accountability

The Facilities Caretaker is accountable for:

  • Completion of allocated maintenance and landscaping activities.
  • Reactive maintenance response within agreed timeframes.
  • Completion of preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintenance visibility across allocated sites.
  • Identification and escalation of maintenance risks and asset concerns.
  • Accurate maintenance records and task updates.
  • Safe work practices and compliance with WHS requirements.
  • Effective use of allocated time, tools and resources.
  • Maintenance presentation standards across allocated sites.
  • Communication regarding completed and outstanding work.

The Facilities Caretaker is responsible for execution of maintenance activities but does not assume accountability for maintenance strategy, budgets, contractor management or asset planning.

Desired Skills and Experience
Experience and Background
  • Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities role.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete general repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Experience working across multiple sites of locations.
Desireable:
  • Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance or gardening.
  • Experience in schools, childcare, or similar environments.
Technical and Maintenance Capability
  • Ability to complete minor repairs independently across a range of maintenance tasks.
  • Basic skills across carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance.
  • Ability to identify issues, implement practical solutions and escalat**e** when specialist support is required.
Work Style and Organisation
  • Highly reliable, organised and self-motivated.
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently across multiple locations.
  • Able to plan and complete work efficiently while maintaining quality standards,
Communication & Systems
  • Clear and professional communication with centre teams.
  • Ability to keep stakeholders informed of progress and timelines.
  • Comfortable using maintenance systems, apps and email.
  • Maintains accurate records and updates of completed work.
