Job summary

Fortescue Metals Group is hiring a Fixed Plant Mechanical Boilermaker / Fabricator for the Solomon mine. The role reports to the Central Maintenance Supervisor and supports repairing, maintaining and improving systems to deliver world-class availability.

Key duties include reading drawings, identifying fabrication issues and assisting with shutdowns and weekly maintenance across Solomon and Eliwana sites. FIFO from Perth, with 8D6R roster and in-line with scheduled shutdowns.

Qualifications

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate is required.
• Experience in fixed plant (dry and wet) processing environments.
• Current White Card and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain assets to operational capacity and improve process efficiency.
• Read and interpret drawings; identify and rectify fabrication problems.
• Assist with shutdowns and weekly maintenance, including gearboxes and conveyors.
• Collaborate with team and uphold Fortescue values.

Location: Solomon- Fortescue’s Solomon mine is located on the traditional lands of the Eastern Guruma and Yindjibarndi peoples.

Roster:floating 8D6R (in-line with scheduled shutdowns) - FIFO ex. Perth

The Fixed Plant Mechanical Boilermaker / Fabricator role reports directly to the OPF Central Maintenance Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting with repairing, maintaining and improving systems and equipment to safely deliver world class availability and reliability Operational processing plants at Solomon and Eliwana.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain all assets to operational capacity whilst consistently striving to increase process efficiency.
• Demonstrate behaviours that align with the Fortescue values.
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, contributing to team goals and supporting colleagues.
• Ability to read and interpret drawing.
• Ability to identify and rectify fabrication problems.
• Assist with precision component replacements during shutdowns and weekly maintenance eg. gearbox, conveyor brakes, MMD sizers, conveyor pullies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Australian Recognised Trade Certificate.
• Experience working within a Fixed Plant (dry and wet plant) processing environment.
• Familiarity and background in working with pumps.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Current White Card.
