Job summary

AECOM in Sydney is seeking a Graduate Safety Engineer to join our Buildings & Places team. You’ll gain practical experience in fire engineering across the project lifecycle, from concept to completion, working with experienced fire safety engineers.

We offer a structured graduate program with mentoring, essential consulting skills, and flexible work options. You’ll develop technical reporting and client-facing abilities while contributing to high-profile projects across Australia.

Qualifications

• Must be in final year of, or have completed, a relevant Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Fire Engineering or Fire Safety Engineering.
• Must have full working rights to work in Australia; student and graduate visas accepted.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to fire engineering projects across the project lifecycle, from early concept and design through to completion.
• Conduct fire risk assessments, evacuation analysis and smoke control modelling, and prepare technical reports and documentation to support design outcomes and approvals.
• Develop understanding of relevant fire engineering codes, standards, regulations and industry practices, applying knowledge to real-world projects under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable insight into how fire safety considerations are integrated into the broader design and delivery of buildings.

Qualifications

• Degree: You must be in your final year of, or have completed, a relevant Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with relevant fire safety coursework or specialisation.
