Job summary

wiq, a Woolworths Group and Quantium partnership, is expanding its Data Science pool in Australia. We seek Data Scientists across seniority levels who will rotate through diverse projects spanning Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Customer Experience, delivering high-impact analytics for millions of customers weekly.

You will work in Agile squads with world-class data professionals, translating complex problems into actionable models and communicating insights to stakeholders to influence

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a Data Science role with strong mathematical and statistical foundations.
• Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, actuarial studies, or related field.
• Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and modern machine learning tools.
• A consulting mindset, including stakeholder management and navigating ambiguity.
• A passion for Agile delivery with iterative progress and peer review.
• Experience in large-scale data environments, ideally in retail, FMCG, or fast-paced professional services.

Responsibilities

• Solve complex business problems by translating ambiguous retail challenges into analytical models.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery from data discovery to deploying scalable analytics.
• Collaborate across Agile squads with Product Owners and Engineers to drive outcomes.
• Communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders and tell the data story.
• Drive innovation by keeping up with ML/AI trends to enhance the retail ecosystem.

What You’ll Do

wiq is expanding! We're seeking Data Scientists who crave variety. You'll rotate through diverse projects across the Woolworths x Quantium partnership, gaining exposure to multiple business domains—from Supply Chain to Merchandising to Customer Experience—while impacting the lives of 24 million customers every week.

Your responsibilities will scale with your experience level, but all roles include:

• Solve complex business problems by translating ambiguous retail challenges into sophisticated analytical frameworks and actionable models.
• Lead end-to-end project delivery, from initial data discovery and hypothesis testing to deploying scalable advanced analytics solutions that may include AI, Machine Learning and predictive modelling.
• Collaborate across Agile squads, partnering with Product Owners and Engineers to ensure your insights drive real-world commercial outcomes.
• Communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, effectively "telling the story" of the data to influence strategic decision-making.
• Drive innovation by staying at the forefront of ML/AI trends and proactively suggesting new ways to enhance the retail ecosystem.

What you’ll bring

You are a curious, consultant-minded professional who thrives on variety. You enjoy the challenge of a new project and have the technical rigor to back up your creative solutions.

• Minimum 2 years in a Data Science role, with solid mathematical and statistical foundations that ensure rigorous, sound analysis.
• Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, actuarial studies, or related field.
• Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and modern machine learning tools.
• A consulting mindset, featuring the ability to manage stakeholders, handle project ambiguity, and focus on "the why" behind the data.
• A passion for Agile delivery, valuing iterative progress, peer review, and a collaborative team culture.
• Experience in large-scale data environments, ideally within retail, FMCG, or a fast-paced professional services firm.
