Job description

Job Description

Experienced Quantitative Developer / Software Engineer (C#) — Systematic Hedge Fund

Join a systematic hedge fund that combines quantitative research, machine learning and sophisticated software engineering to trade FX and futures markets.

We've spent over a decade building high-speed, real-time autonomous trading systems, and our small, experienced team gives talented engineers the autonomy to own genuinely interesting problems from day one.

About The Role

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer with 5+ years of professional development experience to join our technology team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced developer looking for genuine autonomy and ownership from day one - and, as you settle in, the opportunity to mentor others joining the team. You'll work alongside experienced software engineers, quantitative developers and Unix engineers on systems designed for rigor, transparency and automation. Every model is understood and owned by the team that builds it.

You Will
  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications using C# / .NET, working with technologies including SQL, NoSQL, AWS, Grafana, Python and MATLAB.
  • Design and build high-throughput, real-time trading systems.
  • Solve complex engineering challenges, including synchronising data feeds from disparate locations around the world.
  • Work closely with quantitative researchers and Unix engineers to understand requirements and develop effective solutions.
  • Lead code reviews, testing and the continuous improvement of our systems.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle for the systems you build, from design through to deployment and production support.
  • Contribute to the reliability and robustness of our trading platform, including participation in a collaborative on-call rotation.
  • Have the opportunity to broaden your skillset into quantitative development, particularly if you have a strong mathematical aptitude and an interest in financial markets.
About You
  • Experienced software engineers who haven't worked in finance but are looking for a technically challenging new environment; or
  • Quantitative developers with experience building front-office trading systems.
You'll Have
  • 5+ years of professional development experience, with C# / .NET preferred. Candidates with strong commercial experience in Java, C++ or another object‐oriented language will also be considered.
  • A good understanding of fundamental software engineering concepts.
  • Experience working with databases and writing SQL.
  • A methodical approach to solving technical problems.
  • The ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to writing reliable, maintainable code.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Curiosity and an interest in understanding how things work, rather than simply getting things to work.
Nice To Have
  • Experience with Unix/Linux, Python, AWS, networking, distributed systems or financial markets - we're more interested in your engineering ability and potential than a checklist of technologies.

Full working rights in Australia required. Sponsorship is not available. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related STEM field is required.

Why Join Us?

Technology genuinely matters to the business here. You'll have genuine autonomy from day one - full ownership of the systems you build, without layers of bureaucracy - and, as our team grows, the opportunity to mentor engineers earlier in their career.

You'll Also Get
  • A competitive salary, together with an uncapped performance-based bonus.
  • A fast interview process: a technical screen, followed by a team conversation.

If you're looking for a role where you can take on real ownership from day one, work on genuinely interesting technology, and help shape a growing team, we'd love to hear from you.
