Job summary

ElectraNet in Adelaide seeks an Experienced Lines Engineer to deliver specialist engineering services across transmission line and cable infrastructure. You will design, assess, construct, commission and optimise critical assets for safe, reliable electricity delivery in South Australia.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to craft practical, cost-effective engineering solutions meeting operational and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in Electrical/Electronic Engineering related role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
  • Experience with design, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of transmission line and cable assets.
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage transmission networks and transmission line engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering deliverables including design briefs, technical investigations, scopes and detailed designs.
  • Provide specialist technical support across transmission line and cable assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Identify and assess transmission line route options considering technical, environmental and commercial factors.
  • Review technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Contribute to development of design standards, philosophies and functional requirements.
  • Ensure engineering outcomes comply with industry standards and ElectraNet requirements.
  • Provide engineering advice during construction, commissioning, operational and maintenance activities.
  • Support site acceptance testing and safe asset energisation.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, consultants and asset stakeholders.

The Opportunity

As an Experienced Lines Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering specialist engineering services across ElectraNet’s transmission line and cable infrastructure portfolio. Working within a highly skilled engineering team, you will contribute to the design, assessment, construction, commissioning and ongoing optimisation of critical network assets that support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity throughout South Australia.

This is an opportunity to work on technically complex projects while providing subject matter expertise across the full asset lifecycle. You will collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to develop practical, innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions that meet operational, regulatory and customer requirements.

Based in Adelaide, this full-time role will also cover the following key responsibilities:

About You

You are a capable and motivated engineer with demonstrated experience in transmission line and cable engineering. You combine strong technical capability with sound judgement, effective stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes. You enjoy solving complex problems and contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on the electricity network.

To Be Successful, You Will Bring
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electrical/Electronic Engineering related role
  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, construction, commissioning, operation or maintenance of transmission line and cable assets
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage transmission networks and transmission line engineering practices
  • Experience with line and cable modelling, route selection and design documentation
  • Knowledge of earthing, lightning protection, EMF, insulation coordination and related line engineering principles
  • Experience using engineering software such as PLS-CADD, PSCAD, CDEGS, CYMCAP, ETAP or similar tools
  • Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • A commitment to safety, quality and engineering excellence

ElectraNet is committed to empowering our people and recognising their contribution with a competitive remuneration package. For the Experienced level, we are proud to offer a starting base salary of $152,400 plus superannuation and bonus eligibility of up to 15%.
