Stellar Recruitment Pty is partnering with a mining operator to fill a General Manager role overseeing a large open pit. The successful candidate will shape strategy, lead across operations, maintenance, community, HSE, processing, HR and security, and drive tangible performance improvements.

Candidates with expat experience or seeking their first expat assignment are encouraged; the role offers options for FIFO or living in-country, with a competitive expat salary package and clear progression

Qualifications

• Seasoned GM with mining leadership experience in open pit operations.
• Strategic thinker capable of influencing across operations, maintenance, HSE, processing, HR and security.
• Technical background with mining-related degree preferred.

The situation / opportunity:

Our client has multiple operating mines and a number of growth projects in their portfolio. This position is a proper General Manager role overseeing a large open pit operation. The role requires a candidate who is strategic and who can influence, manage & coach personnel across all the key areas including operations, maintenance, community, HSE, processing, HR and security etc.

We are open to considering a candidate with the following background:

• Seasoned expat with General Manager experience.
• Experienced General Manager who is looking for their 1st Expat assignment.
• Experienced operations manager who is looking to step up and who is ready for GM position.
• Technical background is required with professional qualifications in mining, geotechnical engineer as core skill set being the preference although open to metallurgy or other relevant degree

Salary / Conditions:

• As with all expat positions due consideration needs to be given to the salary and tax arrangements. I have this information to share.
• There are a couple of options that can be considered regarding roster on a FIFO basis or there is an option for living in country. I am happy to talk through the options.

Future opportunity:

For a candidate who delivers in this role there would likely be an opportunity to move up to an executive role over time. With multiple assets at various stages of development there is a lot of opportunity within the organisation.
