Museums Victoria, a premier cultural organisation in Melbourne, is seeking an Exhibitions Assistant to support installation and deinstallation across several venues. The role involves handling furniture, graphics, and display systems, with emphasis on safety and quality presentation.

Holidays and flexibility are available, with training in required licences and a National Police Records Check. The position is casual, with hours spanning early mornings to weekends as needed.

Competenze

• Experience installing and deinstalling showcases, exhibition materials, temporary wall systems, graphics or signage, preferably within a museum, gallery or similar environment.
• Experience undertaking patching, painting, basic repairs and installing fixtures and fittings.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high‑quality presentation standards.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and complete tasks efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and build positive working relationships.
• Sound understanding of occupational health and safety practices, particularly manual handling and site safety requirements.

Mansioni

• Prepare, set up and maintain showcases, including moving, positioning, levelling and cleaning.
• Install and deinstall exhibition furniture, wall systems, displays, graphics, labels and exhibition dressing.
• Complete minor installation, deinstallation and exhibition changeover projects.
• Assemble exhibition furniture and displays.
• Perform spotter duties and/or operate plant equipment such as Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs).
• Carry out painting, patching and repair work within galleries and exhibition spaces.
• Receive, dispatch and transport exhibition‑related materials and deliveries.
• Maintain exhibition storage, workshop and back‑of‑house areas.
• Provide assistance to contractors undertaking works across Museums Victoria sites.
• Maintain tools and equipment and ensure safe working conditions during exhibition projects.
• Complete administrative tasks, including record‑keeping, time‑keeping and stock management.
