Quantium is seeking an experienced Executive Manager to lead AI engineering consulting in Australia, based in Sydney or Melbourne. You’ll guide a growing team of around 10 engineers and leads, shaping delivery approaches across client engagements while upholding a high engineering bar.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership, enterprise consulting and AI delivery. You’ll coach engineers, work directly with clients, set technical direction, and translate ambitious strategies

We’re looking for an experienced engineering leader to help scale how Quantium delivers AI transformation for some of Australia’s largest enterprises. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, you’ll lead a growing AI engineering team of around 10 people today.Working closely with Engineering Leads and engineers across client engagements, you’ll develop the team, maintain a high engineering bar, and help turn ambitious AI strategies into practical, production-ready solutions.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering leadership, enterprise consulting and AI delivery. It’s for someone who enjoys staying close to the work: coaching engineers and leads, working directly with clients, shaping delivery approaches, and providing technical judgement when teams encounter difficult problems.

Unlike a traditional Engineering Manager role, your people won’t always sit within a single product or long-running squad. Teams form around different client problems and engagements, so you’ll need to create clarity, develop people and maintain consistency across a dynamic consulting environment.

This is also an opportunity to help shape how we scale. As demand grows, you’ll turn what we learn from individual engagements into stronger methodologies, practices and playbooks, building a repeatable AI engineering capability that makes every engagement better than the last.

How You’ll Create Impact

• Lead and grow a team of around 10 Engineers and Leads, coaching and developing people while building the leadership capability needed to scale
• Guide complex AI transformation engagements, helping clients move from ambiguous problems and ambitious strategies to pragmatic, executable engineering solutions
• Represent Quantium’s engineering capability with senior clients, bringing technical credibility, sound judgement and clear communication to complex business and engineering conversations
• Build repeatable consulting engineering capability, turning lessons and patterns from individual engagements into methodologies, playbooks and practices that improve future delivery
• Provide technical and architectural judgement where it matters, helping teams navigate difficult decisions across AI, data, platform and application engineering without needing to be the primary implementer
• Balance client delivery with longer-term capability building, maintaining a high engineering bar while continuously improving how our teams work

The Superpowers You’ll Bring To The Team

• Strong engineering leadership experience, with a track record of developing engineers and Engineering Leads, building high-performing teams and driving outcomes through others
• Experience in consulting, professional services or similarly client-facing engineering environments, where problems can be ambiguous and teams need to move quickly from discovery to delivery
• The ability to build credibility with senior technical and business stakeholders, communicate complex ideas clearly and challenge thinking constructively
• Strong technical judgement across modern AI and engineering, with experience delivering complex AI, data, platform or software solutions and the ability to move between strategic context and technical detail
• A first-principles mindset, comfortable adapting your approach as client needs, technologies and team structures evolve rather than relying on a rigid playbook
• A track record of building capability beyond individual projects, whether through developing people, establishing engineering practices, or creating reusable patterns, methodologies and tooling
