Job summary

Queensland Government is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Deputy Director-General, Science and Innovation. You will guide a newly integrated division with statewide influence, delivering outcomes across economy, environment and community.

Reporting to the Director-General, you will oversee a diverse portfolio including science, data, partnerships and innovation investment, driving impact through strategic priorities and strong governance across government and academia.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in science, innovation or policy functions.
• Ability to translate strategy into actionable delivery.
• Proven track record in building trusted relationships across government, industry and academia.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Queensland's integrated science and innovation agenda.
• Drive innovation, research translation and commercialisation initiatives.
• Foster partnerships across government, universities, industry and community stakeholders.
• Provide authoritative strategic advice to senior Ministers and executives.
• Build capability through strategic investment, workforce development and collaboration.
• Lead a diverse workforce with a culture of inclusion and high performance.
• Oversee governance, risk management and delivery across statewide programs.
• Model DETSI values and create an environment that attracts top talent.
