Job summary

The ACT Jewish Community is seeking a Managing Director in Canberra to lead its operations from Forrest, guiding governance, grants, budgets and stakeholder relations.

You will work with Rabbis, volunteers and government bodies, set strategy, ensure execution, manage sensitive issues, and maintain impartiality across diverse communities. This is a full-time role requiring senior leadership, discretion, and the ability to navigate a busy, relational environment with warmth and sound judgement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in multi-stakeholder environments with discretion.
• Ability to translate strategy into operational delivery.
• Proven ability to manage sensitive community issues and maintain trust.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop people in a small, hands-on organisational environment.
• Partner with a volunteer Board and translate strategy into delivery.
• Build trust across communities with different perspectives and priorities.
• Navigate sensitive stakeholder issues with discretion.
• Communicate exceptionally well, both verbally and in writing.
• Oversee grants, projects, budgets and competing operational priorities.
• Engage credibly with government and senior external stakeholders.
• Remain composed and decisive when circumstances are complex or urgent.
