The role requires a valid Heavy Equipment Operator licence and proven final trim experience, with strong knowledge of excavation equipment and site safety protocols.

Ireland Civil Contracting PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator – Final Trim to join our team. This is a key position within our construction operations, based in The Northern Rivers NSW. As an Excavator Operator specialising in final trim work, you will be responsible for precision earthmoving operations that require skill, attention to detail, and extensive equipment knowledge. This role is integral to ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety whilst maintaining project timelines and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavation equipment with precision to perform final trim work on construction sites
• Maintain strict adherence to project specifications and grade requirements
• Conduct pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Work collaboratively with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate earthmoving activities
• Manage excavated materials and maintain a clean and organised work site
• Monitor ground conditions and adjust operations to ensure safety and quality outcomes
• Comply with all relevant health and safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols
• Communicate effectively with site personnel regarding operational status and any issues that arise
• Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement on site

What we're looking for

• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator licence or equivalent certification demonstrating competency in excavator operation
• Proven experience as an Excavator Operator, with specific experience in final trim or precision earthmoving work preferred
• Thorough knowledge of excavation equipment, including operation, maintenance and safety protocols
• Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret site plans, grades and specifications
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Current First Aid certification is desirable
