Qualifications

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity for an equine vet or experienced OPU technician to join a world-class equine reproduction team based in Sydney.

This role combines practical reproductive work with the opportunity to develop your skills alongside experienced professionals. You’ll be based in Sydney, with travel forming part of the position.

The Role

Working as part of the OPU team, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and performing equine ovum pick-up procedures, appropriate to your experience and registration.
• Preparing and maintaining OPU equipment and assisting with oocyte collection and handling.
• Working closely with veterinary and laboratory colleagues to coordinate procedures.
• Maintaining accurate collection records and communicating with the laboratory and clients.
• Supporting high standards of mare welfare, clinical care and biosecurity.
• Travelling to support the team’s reproductive services.

Who We’re Looking For

This would particularly suit an equine vet with an interest in reproduction, or an experienced technician with relevant practical skills.

Previous OPU or oocyte collection experience in horses, cattle or sheep would be valuable. You should be comfortable handling horses, working in a practical setting and communicating effectively with colleagues and clients.

An interest in equine assisted reproduction, attention to detail and a willingness to travel are essential.

If your veterinary degree is not recognised in Australia, we would still like to hear from you. Special registration can be arranged for a suitable candidate, subject to the relevant approval.

The team is looking for someone keen to settle in, develop and contribute over the longer term. This position is not suitable for someone seeking only six months of work.
