Job summary

WSP in Australia in Brisbane is looking for an Environmental Consultant to join the Queensland practice. You will work on energy, resources, infrastructure, water and defence projects, helping clients navigate environmental assessments and approvals while developing your technical, project delivery and consulting skills.

You will join a collaborative team, gain exposure to environmental impact assessment and approvals processes, and benefit from structured mentoring, flexible working

Qualifications

• 2–5 years' experience in environmental approvals, environmental planning or impact assessment.
• Experience preparing technical reports, environmental assessments or approvals documentation.
• Developing understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities within project teams.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
• Commitment to professional development and building a long-term career in environmental approvals.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing environmental assessments and approval applications.
• Support delivery of environmental impact assessments and approvals projects.
• Coordinate inputs from ecology, noise, air quality, social impact, heritage and contaminated land teams.

• Assist with stakeholder, client and regulator engagement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional with a few years of experience who is ready to build their career working on some of Australia's most significant energy, resources, infrastructure, water and defence projects. You'll join a collaborative team of environmental approvals specialists, planners, ecologists, engineers and scientists, helping clients navigate complex environmental assessment and approvals requirements while developing your technical, project delivery and consulting skills. As An Environmental Consultant – Environmental Approvals, You Will

• Assist in the preparation of environmental assessments, approval applications and technical reports.
• Support the delivery of environmental impact assessments and approvals projects.
• Coordinate inputs from technical specialists including ecology, noise, air quality, social impact, heritage and contaminated land teams.
• Undertake environmental constraints analysis, due diligence assessments and approvals reviews.
• Contribute to project planning, programme management and delivery activities.
• Assist with stakeholder, client and regulator engagement activities.
• Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and project documentation.
• Support proposal preparation and business development opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across WSP's national business.
• Continue developing your technical expertise and consulting skills under the guidance of experienced project leaders.
• About you

You're someone who enjoys solving problems, working collaboratively and contributing to projects that deliver positive outcomes for communities and the environment.

Ideally, You'll Bring

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 2-5 years' experience in environmental approvals, environmental planning, impact assessment, consulting, industry or government.
• Experience preparing technical reports, environmental assessments or approvals documentation.
• A developing understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within project teams.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from others.
