Job summary

AECOM in Melbourne is seeking an Environmental Manager to lead Victoria's contaminated land practice, delivering a robust project pipeline across Energy, Defence, Transport and Water.

You will manage a 60+ person team, drive growth of Geosciences and Remediation Services, mentor talent, and collaborate with leaders across Australia and New Zealand to deliver transformative environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in the environmental industry with leadership responsibilities.

Job Description

AECOM is looking for an experienced and motivated leader within the Victorian Environmental industry, ready to accelerate their career leading one of the largest and most diverse contaminated land businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

As Environmental Manager, you will spearhead our Victorian team to deliver and expand a robust pipeline of transformative projects across key markets, including Energy, Defence, Transport, and Water. This is your opportunity to thrive in a company that values your expertise and leadership.

Our Environment team delivers advisory and technical services across contamination assessment and remediation, approvals and permitting, environmental planning, and sustainability, working on projects spanning infrastructure, energy, transport and defence. You’ll be a leader within a multidisciplinary group solving complex environmental challenges alongside our technical specialists.

How you’ll make a difference
  • Build your leadership: Lead and inspire a committed, high-performing team of 60+ professional across a diverse portfolio to drive technical delivery excellence and strategic growth both within Victoria and throughout Australia.
  • Business Growth : Strategically grow our Environmental Business with focus on Geosciences and Remediation Services (GRS) by leveraging market insights and client feedback. Introduce new ideas and advanced strategies that enhance operational effectiveness and expand our service offerings.
  • Innovate and transform: Be the catalyst for change: introduce new ideas, leverage our extensive global practice, and implement advanced strategies to lead our GRS business into the future.
  • Stakeholder Management : Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and industry partners to ensure alignment and satisfaction. Your ability to engage effectively will drive business growth and enhance AECOM’s reputation in the industry.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in environmental industry
  • Strong connections within the environmental sector, allowing for effective collaboration and engagement with clients, stakeholders, and industry leaders. Your network will be instrumental in identifying new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that enable you to effectively engage with clients, articulate complex ideas clearly, and foster meaningful relationships. Your ability to connect with diverse audiences will enhance client satisfaction and collaboration.
  • A proven track record of building, leading, and nurturing high-performing teams. Your leadership style should inspire creativity, encourage collaboration, and empower team members to achieve their full potential while driving exceptional outcomes.
  • Strong commercial and strategic judgement, balancing client outcomes, risk and profitability
  • A passion for mentoring and developing talent within your team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. You should be committed to helping team members grow in their careers and achieve their goals.
