Job summary

The City of Rockingham is seeking a dedicated environmental maintenance worker to join the Parks Services team at the Rockingham works depot. You will perform hands-on maintenance of natural areas and conservation reserves, including weed, pest and disease identification and applying appropriate control measures.

This role suits a proactive team player with a passion for protecting the environment and working outdoors, with certification requirements listed above.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management or equivalent field experience.
• Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certificate.
• Chemical Application (herbicide use) certificate.
• Construction Induction Training (White Card).

Responsibilities

• Assist Parks Services in maintaining natural areas and conservation reserves.
• Identify weeds, pests and diseases and apply control measures.
• Contribute to re-vegetation activities and habitat restoration.
• Work as a proactive team member outdoors in a safe environment.

Based at the City’s Works Depot in Crocker Street, Rockingham,you will assist the Parks Services team in undertaking hands onmaintenance of the City’s natural areas and conservation reserves.This role requires the ability to identify weeds, pests anddiseases within natural areas and undertake appropriate controlmeasures and re-vegetation activities.

You are a proactive team player, enjoy working outdoors and havea keen interest in protecting the environment.

To be considered for this role, you must address thefollowing selection criteria as part of your onlineapplication:

• Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management, orequivalent field experience in environmental science or naturalarea management
• Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certificate obtained throughan accredited service provider
• Chemical Application (herbicide use) certificate obtainedthrough an accredited service provider
• Construction Induction Training (White Card)

This position offers a weeklywage of $1,466 (gross) which incorporates all allowances andpenalty rates, as well as:

• 12% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to afurther 5%
