Job summary

Symal Infrastructure is seeking an organized HSEQ Administrator based in Townsville to support the health, safety, environment and quality function across our North Queensland construction projects.

You will maintain records, manage compliance documentation and assist with audits, incident investigations and onboarding, while leveraging HammerTech, RIW and 3D Safety to keep systems up to date and accessible.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years' experience in construction administration or HSEQ administration.
• Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience maintaining databases, registers and training records.
• Good written and verbal communication with multiple stakeholders.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• Current driver's licence and White Card.
• Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent relevant experience.

About the role

Based in Townsville, you’ll provide essential administrative and systems support to our HSEQ team and project personnel, helping ensure our construction activities meet company, client and legislative requirements.

Working closely with the HSEQ Manager, project teams and key stakeholders, you’ll maintain accurate records, coordinate compliance documentation, support incident investigations and help keep training, onboarding and reporting requirements on track.

What you’ll be doing

• HSEQ systems and compliance: Maintain HSEQ databases, registers, training records and project documentation, ensuring information is accurate, current and readily accessible.
• Audits and reporting: Coordinate audit schedules, assist with site inspection documentation, track corrective actions and compile HSEQ performance data for management reporting.
• Incident management: Provide administrative support for incident investigations, maintain investigation records, coordinate incident reporting and distribute safety alerts and lessons learnt.
• Training and onboarding: Support employee and subcontractor onboarding, training records and compliance requirements across project teams.
• Systems administration: Assist employees and subcontractors with compliance platforms, including HammerTech, RIW and 3D Safety, providing system access, navigation and administrative support.
• Client and stakeholder engagement: Liaise with client HSEQ representatives and internal stakeholders to coordinate documentation, meetings, audits and compliance requirements.
• Continuous improvement: Help strengthen HSEQ processes, improve data accuracy and support the ongoing maintenance of our integrated management system and relevant accreditations.

About you

You’re a detail-oriented administrator who can manage competing priorities, follow processes and build strong working relationships with people across a busy construction project.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Approximately 2–3 years’ experience in construction administration, HSEQ administration or a similar compliance-focused role.
• Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Confidence maintaining databases, registers, training records and compliance documentation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow up actions and liaise with multiple stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Confidence using computer systems and learning new software platforms.
• A current driver's licence and White Card.
• Certificate III in Business Administration, or equivalent relevant experience at the hiring manager’s discretion.

Highly regarded: Certificate III in Work Health and Safety, a current Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card and Level 2 First Aid.

Experience with HammerTech, RIW, 3D Safety or other construction compliance management systems will be advantageous.
