Job summary

NCS Australia is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to lead enterprise Azure design and governance from Canberra, with consideration for Melbourne or Sydney for the right candidate.

Operating within a major Federal Government cloud program, you will design, govern, and evolve secure cloud foundations and landing zones across Azure (primary) and AWS, bridging government security constraints with modern cloud capabilities.

Qualifications

• Active NV1 Security Clearance is mandatory.
• Proven track record designing enterprise-scale Azure environments, landing zones, and core infrastructure services.
• Experience architecting integrated Azure and AWS solutions, including hybrid networking and enterprise identity systems.
• Familiarity with Australian Federal Government ICT environments and security controls (ISM, IRAP, PSPF).
• Strong IaC concepts, automation pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions), and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, strategy, and governance of enterprise Azure environments and landing zones.
• Architect secure integration frameworks across hybrid networking and multi-account topologies in Azure and AWS.
• Design robust IAM/RBAC frameworks to secure multi-cloud resources and enforce least privilege.
• Ensure architectures align with Federal Government security and compliance baselines (ISM, IRAP).
• Define architectural standards, blueprints, and reusable patterns for platform deployment across the lifecycle.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, cybersecurity teams, and stakeholders to guide solution decisions and resolve dependencies.
• Provide high-level guidance and design reviews to engineering and operations teams.
