Job summary

SA Health's Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal Team in Adelaide CBD is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to deliver hands-on withdrawal care within a skilled multidisciplinary team. You will monitor clients’ progress, administer medications, and contribute to safe, person-centred outcomes in a public health setting.

Reporting to the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager, you will conduct comprehensive assessments, support rehabilitation, and collaborate with colleagues to optimise care.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and holds, or is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
• Accredited by the NMBA to administer medications.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication; problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams in inpatient settings including drug and alcohol assessment, intervention and evaluation.
• Recent experience in drug and alcohol withdrawal management, bio-psycho-social assessment, primary health care and harm minimisation.

Responsibilities

• Delivers direct nursing care to clients accessing withdrawal support services and monitors clinical progress.
• Administers medications and works with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, person-centred outcomes.
• Demonstrates rehabilitation assessment and care planning, prioritising own work.
• Provides assistance to other health-care team members and oversees students when applicable.

Join SALHN Drug and Alcohol Services as an Enrolled Nurse in a rewarding contract, delivering hands-on withdrawal care to some of Adelaide's most vulnerable community members. Based in the Adelaide CBD, you'll work within a skilled multidisciplinary team, monitoring clients through the withdrawal process and providing compassionate, evidence-informed nursing care.

About the role:

Reporting to the Advanced Nurse Unit Manager, in this role, you will deliver direct nursing care to clients accessing withdrawal support services, monitoring clinical progress, administering medications, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and person-centred outcomes.

Duties for the role will include:

• Demonstrates knowledge and skill in rehabilitation assessment, care and routine procedures for rehabilitation nursing practices,
• Under the direction of a registered nurse makes decisions and takes initiative to plan and complete nursing care tasks within their scope of practice,
• Engages with patients/clients to provide person centred care,
• Conducting a comprehensive nursing and bio-psycho-social assessment including nursing observations,
• Planning and prioritising own work program to achieve defined outcomes,
• Exercising judgment when it is required to solve problems arising in their own work program,
• Provides assistance to other members of the health care team in provision of care to individuals/groups, including overseeing the work of students

Abou t you:

• Registered or eligible for registration as an enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
• Be accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to administer medications,
• Effective clear and concise written and verbal communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
• Experience in providing services to clients, in a multidisciplinary team, inpatient setting including Drug and alcohol assessment, intervention and evaluation,
• Recent experience in drug and alcohol withdrawal management bio-psycho-social assessment, the principles of primary health care and harm minimisation
