Job summary

Decoware Australia Pty Ltd is seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our team alongside the Mechanical Engineer and production staff. You will analyse production methods, investigate process problems and implement practical improvements to machining and metal-finishing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.

Working with our Mechanical Engineer, you will translate engineering requirements into validated workshop methods, controlled instructions and measurable production improvements,

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least two years of relevant experience in engineering technology or related role.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and specifications.
• Practical CAD capability (SolidWorks or equivalent) and data analysis skills.
• Understanding of metal manufacturing, machining or finishing processes with good problem-solving and communication.
• CNC process knowledge or jig/fixture development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and production methods to identify requirements and opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate and adapt machining, tooling and finishing methods; run controlled trials and analyse results.
• Prepare and update CAD drawings, manufacturing instructions and process settings.
• Develop or modify jigs, fixtures and process arrangements to improve repeatability and efficiency.
• Investigate dimensional variations and surface defects; identify causes and verify corrective actions.
• Establish inspection and testing methods and interpret measurement data against requirements.
• Collaborate with the Mechanical Engineer to trial changes and provide clear workshop instructions.
• Prepare technical reports and maintain trial records and improvement outcomes.

Decoware Australia Pty Ltd provides metal polishing and CNC machining services, with a focus on stainless steel products for decorative and architectural applications. We are adding an Engineering Technologist to our team to work alongside our Mechanical Engineer and production staff, improving manufacturing methods, process consistency and product quality.

About the role

In this additional role, you will analyse production methods, investigate process problems and develop, test and implement practical improvements to machining and metal-finishing processes. Working alongside our Mechanical Engineer, you will translate engineering requirements into validated workshop methods, controlled instructions and measurable production improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Review manufacturing drawings, customer specifications and production methods to identify technical requirements and opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate and adapt machining, tooling and finishing methods; conduct controlled trials and analyse results before recommending changes.
• Prepare and update CAD drawings, manufacturing instructions, process settings and technical documentation.
• Develop or modify jigs, fixtures and process arrangements to improve repeatability, material use and production efficiency.
• Investigate dimensional variations, surface-finish defects and other non-conformances; identify causes and verify corrective actions.
• Establish appropriate inspection and testing methods and interpret measurement data against specified requirements.
• Work with the Mechanical Engineer to trial and implement approved technical changes, and provide workshop staff with clear process instructions.
• Prepare technical reports and maintain records of trials, revisions, quality findings and improvement outcomes.

Skills and experience

• Bachelor degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• At least two years of relevant experience in engineering technology, manufacturing process improvement or a related engineering role.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and manufacturing specifications.
• Practical CAD capability, preferably SolidWorks or equivalent, and experience analysing technical or quality data.
• Understanding of metal manufacturing, machining or finishing processes, with sound problem-solving and communication skills.
• CNC process knowledge, jig and fixture development or welding quality experience will be well regarded.
