Job summary

TAL is leading the way in responsible, innovative AI for life insurance. We seek an Engineering Manager, AI & Emerging Technology, to drive scalable AI solutions and ensure governance and compliance across projects. You will mentor engineers, shape best practices, and partner with product and security teams.

Based in Sydney, you’ll influence how TAL leverages AI to protect and support millions of Australians while maintaining trust and operational excellence across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software, AI, ML or data engineering with 3+ years leading teams.
• Strong knowledge of generative AI, LLM-based systems and MLOps/LLMOps practices.
• Ability to guide engineering teams with clear standards, collaboration and growth.

In this role you will:

Qualifications

• Bring 8+ years’ experience in software, AI, machine learning or data engineering, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Apply strong knowledge of generative AI, LLM-based systems and MLOps or LLMOps practices to deliver safe, production-ready solutions.
• Lead and support engineering teams by setting clear standards, encouraging collaboration and helping people grow.
• Use data engineering, cloud platform and modern software development experience to build scalable AI solutions.
• Communicate technical ideas clearly and work effectively with product, business and technology stakeholders.
• Bring an understanding of privacy, security, AI governance and regulated Australian financial services environments.
